Mean Season (Henny Hughes), vanned off after a seventh-place effort in the GIII Gulfstream Park Sprint S. Feb. 21, makes his return to the races at the same venue he broke his maiden. The Jake Ballis and Rashard Lewis colorbearer earned 'TDN Rising Star' status with an eight-length romp in an Aqueduct allowance in December of 2013 and won against similar, earning a 107 Beyer, before being vanned off there in March of 2014. Mean Season fired a bullet half-mile in :46 3/5 (1/53) at Belmont Park for Bill Mott Dec. 27 and worked five furlongs in 1:02 even (12/31) at that venue Jan. 3.
