Jet Setting Joins Fourteen For QEII

China Horse Club have adopted a familiar strategy with Jet Setting (Ire) (Fast Company {Ire}) having supplemented the Adrian Keatley trained filly for the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. at Ascot this Saturday. It is the third Group 1 that the filly has been supplemented for this year and the policy has certainly borne fruit for her previous owners the Equinegrowthpartners who spent €30,000 to run in the G1 Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas where she beat Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) by a head. The two fillies may clash again on Saturday and are among 15 horses that remain in the £1.1m contest that will possibly decide this year's champion miler. The race will also see a fourth clash of the season between two Classic winners in Galileo Gold (GB) (Paco Boy {Ire}) and Awtaad (Ire) (Cape Cross {Ire}). The score is currently 2-1 to Galileo Gold and their respective trainers Hugo Palmer and Kevin Prendergast are both bullish about their chances. Prendergast trained Awtaad's half-sister Aneen (Ire) (Lawman {Fr}) to break her maiden impressively at The Curragh on Tuesday and he commented, “I know my horse is very well. Group 1s aren't easily won but he goes there in very good form.” Palmer is confident his charge can bounce back from defeat in the G1 Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville in August and he said, “We gave him a proper break after he was beaten in France and I think at the very least he has come back as good as he ever was.” Despite their collective achievements and credentials neither of the four horses mentioned above are currently favourite for Saturday's race. That privilege lies with Richard Fahey's Ribchester (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) who beat Galileo Gold comprehensively in France last time out having finished just a short head behind him when third in the G1 Qatar Sussex S. to The Gurkha (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).
