Makoto Kaneko, who raced Japan's sensational Triple Crown winner andﾠnow leading sire Deep Impact (Jpn), determinedly fended off rivals for one of the stallion's most appealing sons at the Japan Racing Horse Association select sale, paying ﾥ180 million ($1,764,706) forﾠthe bay out ofﾠLoves Only Me (Storm Cat). The colt's dam is a half sister to European champion filly Rumplestiltskin (Ire) (Danehill) and his third dam is the spectacular international champion Miesque (Nureyev), dam of top sire Kingmambo. “I inspected almost all the horses in the catalog and I liked this one,” Kaneko said.
