The second and final session of Tattersalls Ireland's August National Hunt Sale concluded with a son of Britain's leading jumps sire Kayf Tara (GB) (Sadler's Wells) (lot 387) heading proceedings after being bought by trainer Gordon Elliott for €75,000.
Named Master Of Tara (Fr), the 3-year-old gelding is out of the French hurdler Ryme Bere (Fr) (Until Sundown), a half-sister to the dual Grade 3 hurdles winner and G1 Prix La Haye Jousselin runner-up Matinee Lover (Fr) (Double Bed {Fr}). His top billing helped vendor Ballincurrig House Stud to the position of leading consignor with 15 horses sold for €168,600.
With 41 fewer lots offered and 37 fewer sold compared to 2015, turnover for the sale as a whole dropped by 18% to €3,026,200 for the 365 horses to change hands at a slightly reduced clearance rate of 67%. The average dropped by 10% to €8,921 and the median by 11% to €5,000.
