An agreement on September 2015 race dates has been reached between Kentucky Downs and Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission announced yesterday. The proposed 2015 schedule involves three overlapping dates between Ellis Park, Kentucky Downs and Churchill. Ellis Park will race Sept. 4, 5, 6, 7 as it had requested; while Kentucky Downs will race Sept. 5, 10, 12, 16 and 19; and Churchill will race Sept. 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27. Kentucky Downs had requested seven days of racing for 2015. Churchill, which will have one fewer race day in September than it did in 2014, will receive a larger percentage of simulcasting revenue by being designated as the state's host track from Sept. 8-Sept. 30. Churchill had previously said that it would not race in September if it had to overlap at all with Kentucky Downs. The two tracks overlapped twice in 2014, but Kentucky Downs sought an additional Saturday date next year. The proposed schedule is expected to be approved by the full KHRC Oct. 21.
