Roger Varian has the season's major middle distance events very much in mind for Postponed (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) following the colt's success in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan last Saturday. Although not sure about his next immediate target a defence of his G1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth S. crown at Ascot ranks high on the agenda for the colt following his comfortable two length defeat of Japan's Duramente (Jpn) (King Kamehameha {Jpn}) at the weekend. “He's come out of Dubai well, he arrived back in the UK on Monday and everything went very smoothly,” said Varian. “We haven't decided on a plan for him yet, we'll see how he is over the next few days and then we'll speak to the owner about his next race. His big midsummer target will be the King George again, so we'll work backwards from that and then his autumn target will be the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and we'll plan around that,” added the Newmarket trainer. The Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum owned 5-year-old is now two for two for Roger Varian since his transfer from the Luca Cumani yard last autumn.
