Kool Kompany Sold Privately

Kool Kompany (Ire) (Jeremy–Absolutely Cool {Ire}, by Indian Ridge)–hero of the G2 Prix Robert Papin and G2 Railway S. and runner-up in the G1 Phoenix S.–was sold privately after failing to meet his reserve at £730,000 at yesterday’s final session of the DBS September Sales. The 2-year-old, consigned by East Everleigh Stables (Property of Middleham Park Racing) as Lot 305A, was purchased privately by Australian agent Mark Player on behalf of Neil Werrett for an undisclosed sum. The €8,000 GOFNOV weanling and GB£40,000 DONAUG yearling will remain in training with Richard Hannon under his new ownership. Kool Kompany, a half-brother to La Coupe de Marseille runner-up Ridge City (Ire) (Elusive City), was last seen finishing sixth in the DBS Premier Yearling S. at York Aug. 21. “Top 2-year-old Kool Kompany offered DBS a chance to break our long established record price, which has stood for 10 years at 530,000gns, and so we would have to concede that we were disappointed not to secure his sale in the ring,” DBS’ Managing Director Henry Beeby commented. “However, our job is to sell horses and that we have done as we have concluded a private sale to an Australian client of agent Mark Player. The end result is a happy vendor, a happy buyer and a sale of some significance at DBS, albeit by a more circuitous route than we originally anticipated.” During two daysof trade, 250 horses brought £2,658,050, good for an average of £10,632 and a median of £6,000.
