G2 Queen Mary S. winner and 'TDN Rising Star' Lady Aurelia (Scat Daddy) completed her final workout in advance of the Aug. 21 G1 Prix Morny at Keeneland on Thursday. The Stonestreet homebred broke her maiden by 7 1/2 lengths over that Lexington track's dirt surface Apr. 21, and was one of the most eye-catching winners at Royal Ascot when demolishing her Queen Mary opposition by seven lengths.
“We're nine days out, she's ready, she's had a couple of really stiff blows here,” trainer Wesley Ward told the Keeneland press team. “The filly she worked with is a 4-year-old stakes filly, Hooligan. We just needed a target to run at and she'd hopefully go by and she did.
She's as good as she could be now.”
The bay is scheduled to depart Kentucky on the weekend.
“She leaves Keeneland on Saturday morning and then at 7:30 p.m. that night she has a direct flight to Paris,” Ward said. “We're as ready as we've ever been, she's matured, she's blossoming, she's very fast, has a beautiful mind and ships well.”
