'TDN Rising Star' Proctor's Ledge (Ghostzapper) seeks her second-straight victory while taking on the likes of familiar foe La Coronel (Colonel John) in Saratoga's GII Lake Placid S. Saturday. The Patricia Moseley homebred paired up victories down at Gulfstream over the winter, and ran creditably in three graded stakes down in Kentucky before breaking through with a convincing tally in the local GIII Lake George S. July 21. Party Boat (Into Mischief) was second that day. Absent from the Lake George was La Coronel, who bested Proctor's Ledge and all other competitors in the GIII Appalachian S. Apr. 13 and GIII Edgewood S. May 5. Her connections took a shot with her in Royal Ascot's G1 Coronation S. June 23, and she was not disgraced crossing the wire fifth behind some of Europe's top sophomore fillies. “I think she's doing really well,” Norm Casse, assistant to his father Mark, told the NYRA press team. “I don't think the trip back took anything out of her. She's had a couple of [breezes] over the Oklahoma turf track, and they've all been pretty good works, so we're excited to get her back going here.” Shockingly, trainer Chad Brown has never won the Lake Placid, but that could change Saturday should Uni (GB) (More Than Ready) step forward from her U.S. debut. A stakes winner in France for Fabrice Chappet and Haras d'Etreham, she was bought into by Michael Dubb, Head of Plains Partners and Bethlehem Stables before flying home for third in the 10-panel GI Belmont Oaks July 8. Her stablemate New Money Honey (Medaglia d'Oro) won that day, but will try dirt one race later in the GI Alabama S.
