The Spanish stallion ranks have been bolstered by the news that Group 3 winner Lightning Moon (Ire) (Shamardal–Catch The Moon {Ire}, by Peintre Celebre) will take up stud duties at Yeguada Torre Duero, as reported in The Racing Post. Bred by Michael Collins' Curragh based Lisieux Stud, Lightning Moon was trained by Ed Walker to win his first three starts including the G3 John Guest Bengough S. over six furlongs at Ascot in 2014. Subsequently purchased by Godolphin the 5-year-old was last seen running Jack Dexter (GB) (Orientor {GB}) to a head in a listed race at Doncaster just over a year ago. The half-brother to stakes winner Song Of My Heart (Ire) (Footstepsinthesand {GB}) will stand at Torre Duero for €2,500. The Valladolid based stud is run by Jose Hormaeche who is well known in European racing and bloodstock circles having previously managed Wall House Stud in Newmarket and also Dehesa De Milagro in Spain.
