Back in October, Wes Carter acquired a Kentucky-bred by the Storm Cat stallion Lion Hearted for $35,000 in this very sales ring. The dark bay blossomed over the winter, drilled a quarter in :21.3 during the under-tack show and attracted plenty of attention in the stable area. Donato Lanni, who had strolled around the grounds Sunday with trainer Bob Baffert, signed the winning ticket yesterday in the name of Boom Boom Boom Stable for $240,000.
