Listed Win For Shamardal Blueblood

Anamba and her happy connections | Racing Post

Withdrawn from the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas last Sunday when the weather turned against her, Godolphin's Anamba, who is a daughter of the 2007 G1 Schweppes Oaks winner Anamato, thrived on this livelier surface to open her black-type account. Last seen finishing second to Coolmore (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who she had beaten on her Leopardstown debut, in the G3 C L & M F Weld Park S. over this trip at The Curragh in September, the bay was stuck on the rail in mid-division throughout the initial stages. Closing steadily against the fence in early straight, she received a dream opening there and was through to lead with over a furlong remaining before galloping on strongly to lead home a stable one-two. “We waited and didn't run in the [Irish] Guineas because of the ground and it's nice that we have been vindicated,” trainer Mick Halford commented. “She's been coming to hand nicely lately and she holds an entry in the [G1] Coronation [S. at Royal Ascot June 17], so all being well she'll run there.” Click for the Racing Post result.
