Looking to 'Wow' Them in the Beldame

Farrell holds off Wow Cat in the Shuvee | Adam Coglianese

Wow Cat (Chi) (Lookin At Lucky), a perfect eight-for-eight in her native country, including a Triple Crown sweep over males, seeksĀ her first win in the U.S. in Saturday's GI Beldame S. at Belmont Park.

The dark bay, trained by Chad Brown, just missed by a neck to the front-running Farrell (Malibu Moon) after getting bumped at the start while making her first attempt in this country and also of the season in the GIII Shuvee S. at Saratoga July 29. She enters off a well-beaten third in a thrilling renewal of the GI Personal Ensign S. Aug. 25. The aforementioned Farrell was a distant fifth in the latter.

Come Dancing (Malibu Moon) makes her graded stakes debut following a runaway win over GIII Molly Pitcher S. heroine Berned (Bernardini) in the slop here in the 1 1/16-mile Royal Delta S. Sept. 9, her first attempt beyond seven furlongs. “I'm confident that our filly is going to show up again like when I stretched her out last time,” trainer Carlos Martin said.
