Willis Horton's GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies upsetter Take Charge Brandi (Giant's Causeway) is under consideration for a start in Churchill Downs' GII Golden Rod S. Nov. 29, according to her conditioner D. Wayne Lukas.
“She came out of the Breeders' Cup great,” Lukas said. “She's back here training and I'll say she's possible for the Golden Rod at this point. We've still got a couple weeks to make a decision, but she'll definitely be nominated.”
On the “TDN Rising Star's” chances for Eclipse honors, the Hall of Famer said, “I think she definitely proved she should be in the conversation from her Breeders' Cup performance. Will it be enough? I'm not sure. If we decide to go to the Golden Rod with her and win, it obviously helps our chances.”
Lukas will likely point his other top juvenile, Zayat Stables' GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile fifth-place finisher Mr. Z (Malibu Moon), towards the GII Kentucky Jockey Club in Louisville the same day.
“It's the same story with Mr. Z,” Lukas said. “He's back here, doing fine and we'll take a good look at the Jockey Club with him at the end of the meet.”
