Lumiere Returns in Challenge S.

LumiereRacing Post

Lumiere (GB) (Shamardal) returns to the scene of her most notable success at Newmarket on Friday in the G2 Dubai Challenge S. Having claimed the G1 Cheveley Park S. at the track last year, the Mark Johnston-trained 3-year-old bids to register a second win of the campaign on her first start at the Rowley Mile since finishing down the field in the G1 1000 Guineas in May. Aidan O'Brien, seeking a first win in the race, relies on the chances of recent G2 Joel S. winner Cougar Mountain (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), while the William Haggas-trained Tasleet (GB) (Showcasing {GB}) will make his first start since winning the G3 Greenham S. on his seasonal bow at Chelmsford in April. Aclaim (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}), from the yard of Martyn Meade, and the Mick Channon-trained Opal Tiara (Ire) (Thousand Words {GB}) both step up in grade in the bid to complete hat-tricks, having been successful at listed and Group 3 level, respectively, on their latest starts. The John Gosden-trained Richard Pankhurst (GB) (Raven's Pass) is on a recovery mission after turning in a below-par effort in the G2 Park S. at Doncaster, while Roger Varian's Certificate (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) makes a quick reappearance after finishing second in a listed prize at Redcar on Saturday. The field is completed by four-times Newmarket winner Gifted Master (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}) (Hugo Palmer), Code Red (GB) (Bahamian Bounty {GB}) (William Muir), Jallota (GB) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}) (Charlie Hills), So Beloved (GB) (Dansili {GB}) (David O'Meara) and First Selection (Spa) (Diktat {GB}) (Simon Crisford).
