Next weekendís GIII San Rafael S., the first Kentucky Derby prep race in California, lost some of its luster yesterday when trainer Bob Baffert declared that Zayat Stableís Maimonides (Vindication) would pass the race, owing to the recent spell of inclement weather in Southern California. ìHe needs another work and the rain messed me up so Iím going to pass,î the conditioner told Daily Racing Form. Baffert gave no indication where the colt could appear next.
