In this series, the TDN takes a look at notable successes of European-based sires in North America. This week's column is highlighted by the victory of Victorious Dream at Santa Anita.

Ghaiyyath Filly Crowned In Arcadia

The three-year-old filly Victorious Dream ran out a 1 1/2-length winner at Santa Anita for Michael McCarthy on May 10 (video).

Bred by Paul Croke and raced by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Sabby Racing and Michael House, the daughter of Ghaiyyath and the Oasis Dream mare Perfect Dream carries some black type, after placing third in the Listed Providencia Stakes in April.

Trained by James Barrett for David Granville earlier in her career, she placed at Leopardstown in Ireland after not meeting her reserve as a €26,000 buy-back at the Goffs February Sale in 2024. A half-sister to a two-year-old colt by Nando Parrado, Victorious Dream has made her last five starts in the U.S. This is the clan of G2 Ribblesdale Stakes heroine Garden Of Eden (Saxon Warrior).

Darley's Ghaiyyath, who stands for a private fee at Kildangan Stud in Ireland, has sired two winners from five runners (40%) in the U.S. His best runner is the GII Del Mar Derby winner The Padre.

Repeat Winners:

Watts Humphrey, Jr.'s Princess Attitude returned a winner at Churchill Downs for trainer Victoria Oliver on May 10 (video). The winner is a half-sister to graded winner Ticonderoga (Tapit), as well as a juvenile filly by Into Mischief and a yearling colt by sire-on-the-rise Charlatan.
