Manhattan Rain (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}–Shantha's Choice {Aus}, by Canny Lad {Aus}), who formerly stood at Arrowfield Stud, will relocate to Victoria's Blue Gum Farm for the 2017 breeding season, where he will stand for A$16,500.
A Group 1-winning half-brother to three-time champion sire Redoute's Choice, Manhattan Rain sired his first Group 1 winner last weekend when the 4-year-old Whisky Baron (Aus) won South Africa's Sun Met. Also to his credit this year is leading G1 Golden Slipper contender She Will Reign (Aus) and last year's Group 2-winning juvenile Scarlet Rain (Aus), who returned a winner at Rosehill last weekend.
“We put forward a proposal to stand Manhattan Rain when he retired from the racetrack,” said Blue Gum Farm's Philip Campbell. “We rated him highly then and we rate him even more highly now. I believe that he is a fantastic fit for the Victorian breeding industry now as there is simply no guess work involved. He is already a proven and consistent source of quality group performers and his yearlings continue to be in high demand, with a top price of A$360,000 already attained at Australia's first yearling sale this year.”
