Godolphin homebreds can always be counted on to have a pedigree laden with black-type and first time starter NUMERICAL (Tapit&log=">Tapit) is no exception. Out of two-time Grade I winner Seventh Street (Street Cry {Ire}), the Kiaran McLaughlin pupil is a half-brother to Marking (Bernardini), who was tabbed a “TDN Rising Star” for his impressive debut victory in 2015. Marking went on to finish second in that year's GI Malibu S. and won a Meydan handicap. Numerical's second dam is MSW & GSP Holiday Runner (Meadowlake), who also produced Group 1 winner Reynaldothewizard (Speightstown); and GSP American Story (Ghostzapper), the dam of GISW American Gal (Concord Point) and SW & MGSP Americanize (Concord Point). The morning-line favorite has been working well ahead of this debut, including a best-of-40 half-mile in :48 flat at Palm Meadows two back Feb. 9. TJCIS PPs.

IRONWOOD (Curlin">Curlin) summoned $950,000 at OBS March last year after breezing a furlong in :10 1/5 and he makes his career bow in this spot for trainer Abraham Gardea, who saddled his first two starters just last week. The chestnut is a half-brother to MSW California-bred Wake Up Nick (Cindago). This is also the family of GSW & MGISP American Freedom (Pulpit) and MGSW Gottcha Gold (Coronado's Quest). TJCIS PPs.
