Tony Martin has no immediate plans for Heartbreak City (Fr) (Lando {Ger}) following his tame effort in the G2 Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan on Dubai World Cup night. The 7-year-old was fancied to go close following his agonising defeat to Almandin (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}) in the G1 Emirates Melbourne Cup last November, but he never figured under Joao Moreira eventually finishing 11th, 20 lengths behind the winner Vazirabad (Fr) (Manduro {Ger}). “He came out of the race all right, he just got a bit worked up and warm beforehand and was lit up in the first part of the race. I'm prepared to excuse him for that and we'll move on,” said Martin. With an exploitable looking rating of 125 over hurdles Heartbreak City will not be short of options this summer both on the level and over jumps but Martin is in no hurry to commit the gelding to either discipline. “There's no plan as yet. We'll get him home and give him 10 days or a fortnight off and see where we go. It's too early to say whether his next run will be on the Flat or over hurdles,” he added.
