The Cheveley Park Stud owned Persuasive (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) finished second in the G1 Coolmore Stud Matron S. at Leopardstown last year and the John Gosden trained filly will return to the Dublin track to try and go one place better in the same race on Saturday. The 4-year-old has only run once since this time last year when finishing a close fifth to Roly Poly (War Front) in the G1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville July 30 and connections are hoping for some better fortune at the weekend.
“She's good and all being well she'll go to Ireland for the Matron Stakes,” said Chris Richardson, managing director of Cheveley Park Stud. “She was a bit unfortunate last time. She got caught in a sandwich at Deauville when the two groups came together and she never really got a run. Once she got clear she started to run on so we were encouraged by that. It's been one of those years for us so it would be nice if luck could turn for us.” Persuasive is lightly raced for a 4-year-old having run only seven times so far but there is no doubting her ability to win having scored on five of those seven outings.
