The former Tim Easterby trained Mattmu (GB) (Indesatchel {Ire}-Katie Boo {Ire}), by Namid {GB}) as been retired from racing to take up stud duties at Bearstone Stud in Shropshire. The 5-year-old was a fine servant for his owner breeder James Bowers winning the G2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte as a juvenile and his 3-year-old exploits, which included a win in the G3 Phoenix Sprint S. at The Curragh, saw him crowned joint-champion 3-year-old sprinter in Ireland in 2015. Mattmu also mixed it at the highest level, finishing third to Mecca's Angel (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) in the G1 Coolmore Nunthrope S. in 2015 and he signed off his racing career with a win in the valuable Great St Wilfrid H. at Ripon in August with a record of 20-6-6-3 for earnings of £390,007. Mattmu was born and raised at Bearstone Stud and the stud's owner Terry Holdcroft, commented, “Everyone at Bearstone is thrilled to welcome home such a classy and consistent horse. He was a real six furlongs specialist who acted on different types of ground and was incredibly sound. He deserves his chance at stud and we will be supporting him with our own mares.” Mattmu will stand for a fee of £3,000.
