Elate, named a 'TDN Rising Star' off of a big debut win, picked up her first stakes victory in the Light Hearted S. Wednesday at Delaware Park. Dominating by 12 1/2 lengths first out at Aqueduct Nov. 26, the homebred was second at 3-10 in the Suncoast S. Feb. 11 at Tampa and checked in third after a tough trip in the GIII Honeybee S. Mar. 11 at Oaklawn. Vanned off after finishing last in the GI Central Bank Ashland S. Apr. 8 at Keeneland, the dark bay was last seen running second at odds-on in a sloppy-track allowance/optional claimer May 5 at Churchill. Made the very slight second choice in this four-horse feature, Elate came away well from the outermost stall and traveled in last, though only about two lengths from the front, through dawdling splits of :25.16 and :50.88. The favorite, Modacious (Uncle Mo) took charge midway around the far turn, but was immediately set upon by Elate, who asserted command by the top of the lane and quickly drew clear to a convincing score.

The winner's second dam is MGSW/MGISP Yell (A.P. Indy), a half to GISW Eastern Echo (Damascus) and MGSW Roar (Forty Niner). Third dam Wild Applause (Northern Dancer) is a MGSW full-sister to MGISW Hero's Honor and a half to MGISW Sea Hero (Polish Navy). Cheery is responsible for a yearling colt by Ghostzapper named Haunt and foaled a Blame colt earlier this season. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
