Middleham Park Buys Botti Pair

Grendisar | Racing Post

Prominent partnership Middleham Park Racing has privately purchased this year's G3 Winter Derby and Easter Classic winner Grendisar (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}), as well as the dual listed-placed Naadirr (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}), from their respective former owners Mohamed Albousi Alghufli and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum. The pair will remain with trainer Marco Botti.

“He is a superstar already and has a cult following,” said Middleham Park's Tim Palin of the 6-year-old entire Grendisar. “He is an out-and-out all-weather horse. We heard he was for sale and he passed the vets with flying colours. It was a very easy deal with the vet process and the payment terms.”

Palin said the bay would stick to the all-weather.

“The plan is if it ain't broke, don't fix it,” he said. “He is having a break now but he could go for a conditions race at Dundalk in October. The plan would then be to do the same again with him on the all-weather. If we did want to go to America or Dubai the option is open there for us, though.”

Of the 5-year-old Naadirr, Palin added, “Marco is convinced that there is more to come and we feel he can still perform at group-race level. There is a Grade II in Canada [Nearctic S.], which we have one eye on as Marco is brilliant with his horses abroad. He is a high-profile horse that could take us as owners all over the world and give us some great days out.”

Palin added, “Marco helped broker both deals and we are delighted to have him on board as a trainer. It is great to be part of their team with two very exciting horses.”
