Midnight Bisou, pounded at the windows after the scratch of unbeaten Dream Tree (Uncle Mo), sat a perfect stalking trip behind dueling leaders and kicked past Thirteen Squared in the lane to prove two turns were of no concern. The dark bay was beaten a nose by the pricey and well-connected Dream Tree in a six-furlong maiden special weight here back in October, and reproduced that exact finish in Del Mar's Desi Arnaz S. Nov. 18. She broke through in the GII Santa Ynez S. Jan. 7 by 4 1/2 lengths, and was looking to cap a productive hour or so for her sire, who was also responsible for Busher S. winner Midnight Disguise at Aqueduct.
“This was a test of two turns and she passed it with an 'A+,'” said Hall of Fame pilot Mike Smith, who was celebrating his fourth win in this race in the last five years. “I'm getting to know her more and more. I was a bit concerned warming up today. I thought she might be a little too keen early on but then she settled really nicely and she did everything better than I expected going into a two turn race. She's getting better even faster than I thought she would.”
Trainer Bill Spawr and co-owner Jeff Bloom confirmed that the GI Santa Anita Oaks Apr. 7 would likely be next on the agenda with an eye towards the GI Kentucky Oaks May 4.

Pedigree Notes:
Midnight Bisou's dam Diva Delite annexed the 2010 GIII Florida Oaks for John Sykes's Cloverleaf Farm II, which was later renamed Woodford Thoroughbreds and which also stood Diva Delite's sire Repent. Midnight Bisou has a 2-year-old half-brother named Staged Left (Congrats) and a yearling half-brother by Warrior's Reward. Her dam was bred back to Wicked Strong.
