Squadron captured his six-furlong debut over the local main track as the 8-5 favorite Sept. 25 and was given a 9-2 chance in this first spin over the turf course. The chestnut was a bit eager early, but settled into a perfect trip stalking the pace from afar in third behind a half-mile in :48.55. Asked to pick it up soon after that juncture, he swept to the front with a three-wide rally on the far turn and drew clear to score by 3 1/4 lengths over late-running favorite Front Loaded (Kantharos). The winner sold for $60,000 as a Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July yearling. Skip the Storm, a half to GSW Derrianne (Cozzene), produced a filly by Northern Afleet in 2015 and most recently visited Flat Out.
