Mint Lane Wires Dwyer

Sent off at the crowd's heavy 3-5 choice, Pinebloom Stable's Mint Lane (Maria's Mon–Sister Girl, by Conquistador Cielo) put forth a workmanlike effort to secure his first graded event in Sunday's GII Dwyer S. at Belmont Park. The three-year-old colt, who was 5 3/4 lengths adrift of Casino Drive in the May 10 GII Peter Pan S. over the Belmont strip, entered the Dwyer off a strong win in the Postponed S. June 13. Breaking from post three under Eibar Coa, Mint Lane was soon in front and set sensible fractions. He began to tire coming down the stretch, but none of his rivals was able to chase him down. The longshot Tizbig (Tiznow) earned the place spot with a career-best effort. Lifetime Record: 9-4-2-1, $293,412.
