Miracle Mare Back On Track
Local hero Miracles of Life (Aus) (Not A Single Doubt {Aus}) returns to the place she started her career and seeks her second Group 1 triumph in Saturday’s William Hill Classic (the Robert Sangster S.). Miracles of Life recorded a pair of victories over this strip before shipping South to take the G1 Blue Diamond S. for then-trainer Dan Clarken in 2013, and she was sold to Stonestreet Stables for A$900,000 at the Magic Millions National Sale just weeks after winning the G2 Sportingbet S. back here last May. Transferred to Peter and Paul Snowden, Miracles of Life has already won a pair of group races in the Stonestreet silks, and she was most recently third in the G1 Galaxy S. Mar. 21. Connections opted to bypass the A$2.5 million G1 TJ Smith S. Apr. 6 and target this spot, noting their mare would enjoy the break between runs. Miracles of Life’s greatest challenge in Australia’s only 1200 meter Group 1 for fillies and mares could come fromVain Queen (Aus) (Artie Schiller), who has been knocking on the door at the highest level this season with a fourth in the G1 Oakleigh Plate and a second in the G1 William Reid S. Mar. 27. Avoid Lightning (Aus) (Blevic {Aus}) failed to threaten when 10th in the Galaxy, but bounced back over her favored soft going when winning the G2 Sapphire S. Apr. 11. She is not likely to get her ground here, however, and is drawn way out wide in 16.
