Successful over a mile on heavy ground on debut at Saint-Cloud in November, The Juliet Rose returned to that track to be second to the subsequent G1 Prix Saint-Alary runner-up Camprock (Fr) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) under hold-up tactics and after meeting interference in the 10 1/2-furlong G3 Prix Penelope Apr. 18. More positively ridden last time when getting back to winning ways in the Listed Prix de la Seine over 11 furlongs here May 10, the dark bay was allowed to race alone initially by Stephane Pasquier and by the time she met up with the main group was in front and travelling comfortably there. She may have been fortunate that one of the Fabre trainees Armande was stopped in her run early in the straight, given the way that rival finished off when in the clear but The Juliet Rose answered every call in game and straightforward fashion to continue her ascent. “She is a nice improving filly who gives her best and leaves her heart on the track every time,” trainer Nicolas Clement said. “We will now try one more step forward and go for the [G2] Prix de Malleret [at Saint-Cloud July 3].” The Juliet Rose's dam is a black-type-winning half-sister to the G2 Pretty Polly S. winner Hanami (GB) (Hernando {Fr}), who has produced three black-type performers of her own. Her 2-year-old filly by Invincible Spirit (Ire) is called Pocketfullofdreams (Fr), while she also has a yearling colt by Redoute's Choice (Aus).
