MGSW Monterey Jazz (Thunderello), who was expected to be one of the pacesetters for Monday's GI Met Mile, will be forced to miss the race due to hind end problems, the Daily Racing Form reports. The four-year-old worked five furlongs in 1:01 2/5 at Hollywood Park Wednesday, but came out of the work with tightness behind. According to DRF, he will be sent to Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in Los Olivos, California, for testing. “We can't really pinpoint what it is, but we didn't feel right putting him on a plane [for New York],” trainer Craig Dollase told DRF. Monterey Jazz, six-for-13 lifetime, captured the GII Strub S. in his 2008 debut and cruised to an eight-length score in the Apr. 26 GIII Texas Mile at Lone Star Park last time out.
