In keeping with yesterday's theme of horses from their sires' first crops looking for their initial stakes victories, the three-year-old Montery Jazz (Thunderello) flaunted his speed during the GIII Sir Beaufort S. at Santa Anita and proved uncatchable down the lane. Montery Jazz becomes the first stakes winner for his sophomore sire Thunderello (Montbrook), who was runner-up in the 2002 GI Breeders' Cup Sprint.
