Having tested deeper waters when third in the G1 Fillies' Mile and G1 Prix Saint-Alary, Hawksmoor (Ire) (Azamour {Ire}) is more towards the shallow end as she confronts the best of the German miler fillies in Sunday's G2 German 1000 Guineas at Dusseldorf. From the Hugo Palmer stable rich in 3-year-old talent, Lael Stable's acquisition captured the G3 Prestige S. at Goodwood in August before finishing third in the G2 Rockfel S. at Newmarket the following month and also in the Fillies' Mile behind Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in October. In that same position when sporting first-time blinkers behind Jemayel (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) in the Saint-Alary trying 10 furlongs at Deauville last time May 16, she reverts to a mile with the headgear left on to sharpen her up. Tried against the colts in the G2 Mehl-Mulhens-Rennen (German 2000 Guineas) at Cologne May 16, Darius Racing's Parvaneh (Ire) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) was not disgraced when fifth, and holds La Merced (Ger) (Tiger Hill {Ire}) and Dhaba (Ger) (Areion {Ger}) on her previous form when winning the G3 Schwarzgold-Rennen at this distance also at Cologne Apr. 17. Gestut Park Wiedingen's homebred Dhaba had won Baden-Baden's G3 Preis der Winterkonigin in October and could be a different proposition with that comeback effort under her belt, while the Gestut Wittekindshof representative Near England (Ire) (Lord of England {Ger}) is on the up after her success in the course-and-distance Listed Henkel-Stutenpreis last time Apr. 30.
