Moore To Take A Rest

Ryan Moore | Racing Post

Jockey Ryan Moore is set to take a rest from race riding in order to heal from soreness that has plagued him in recent weeks. The Ballydoyle retainer has not ridden since Sunday, and it was revealed on Wednesday he had headed to Portugal for a vacation with his family.

“I have been a bit sore for the last couple of weeks and been advised by a specialist that complete rest is the best option,” Moore said. “I'm not going to rush it as I want to be 100% for all the major races in the autumn, so I'm going to play it by ear, but hope to be back soon.”

Moore would have been expected to ride ante-post G1 2000 Guineas favourite Caravaggio (Scat Daddy) in Sunday's G1 Keeneland Phoenix S. for trainer Aidan O'Brien, who said at Leopardstown on Tuesday he knew Moore “was having trouble with a hip,” adding, “I knew that the last while and you could see he was lame while he was walking.”
