Mrs Marsh, Dam of Canford Cliffs, Proves Popular at 850k

Bidding on behalf of the BBA Ireland, Adrian Nicholl went to 850,000gns to acquire Mrs Marsh (GB) (Marju {Ire}–Drei, by Lyphard), the dam of the outstanding MG1SW miler Canford Cliffs (Ire) (Tagula {Ire}). The transaction capped a remarkable handful of minutes for the mare's consignor, Highclere Stud, who sold Pearling for 1.3 million guineas and SW Mary Boleyn (Ire) (King's Best) for 310,000gns. “She has been bought for foreign-based clients, but will go to Ireland from here,” said Nicholl. “She will visit Galileo and we were looking for a mare for the stallion. She is a lovely mare and ticks all the right boxes. She gets good yearlings and I saw Canford Cliffs last week–he is a lovely looking horse. There are no plans yet for the foal–it may kept or sold.”
