The Musselburgh Joint Racing Committee (MJRC) has not met the conditions set by the BHA for the renewal of its racecourse licence by the June 30 deadline and the BHA can confirm that the licence has lapsed, BHA announced Friday.
Discussions between MJRC and BHA began in late 2016, and the MJRC can reapply for a licence at any time, however the MJRC must meet the necessary licence conditions. A licence must be obtained by July 6 for the scheduled July 14 fixture to take place. Should the MJRC not provide unequivocal commitment to meeting the licence conditions by close of business on July 6, the BHA will confirm cancellation of the fixture. The next scheduled fixture at Musselburgh is on July 25, and if the MJRC has not made a successful application for its licence by close of business on July 14, the BHA will reallocate that fixture to ensure that there remain two afternoon fixtures on July 25.
