Things haven't exactly worked out as trainer Chad Brown had probably hoped when it comes to his GI Kentucky Derby contenders, but in 'TDN Rising Star' My Man Sam, he does have an interesting contender. In a year where late-bloomers have flourished, he's another who came from nowhere. He didn't break his maiden until Jan. 31 and didn't make his stakes debut until the GI Toyota Blue Grass S. But that's where he made a statement, closing from the 14 post to finish second. Probably not quite good enough, but he's heading in the right direction.
