'TDN Rising Star' Gustav Klimt (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who overcame trouble to win Saturday's G2 Superlative S., will have a short break before targeting the G1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National S. at The Curragh on Sept. 10, according to trainer Aidan O'Brien. Gustav Klimt was a winner at second asking at The Curragh on July 2 and won the Superlative by a head two weeks later after being closed out of a gap in the final stages.
O'Brien said, “We were very happy with him. He went there for experience. He had a nice run first time, then he won his maiden at The Curragh.”
“He would have learned a lot the last day, traveling over [to Newmarket],” the trainer added. “He had to quicken and come through, as he didn't get a clear run. Often it is a very good for the horse to experience all that stuff and learn a lot in a short space of time. The plan is that he might have an easy time, then train him for the National S.”
