Trainer Mick Channon made his mark in international soccer before turning his attention to racing and forging a highly successful training career. Peter Ebdon is a former World Snooker Champion and while he has no intentions of going down the training route he has decided to put his significant knowledge of thoroughbred pedigrees to use by launching a pedigree consultancy. Designer Pedigrees is the company Ebdon has set up and he hopes his passion for the last 25 years, which has seen the snooker star also breed numerous winners, will aid others in deciding mating plans and purchasing horses. Group 3 winner Sesmen (GB) (Inchinor {GB}) ranks as the most successful horse Ebdon has bred and regarding his future enterprise he commented, “Thoroughbred pedigrees have been such a huge passion of mine for such a long time now, that late last year I decided to set up a professional pedigree consultancy business called Designer Pedigrees Ltd, so that I can share my knowledge with breeders with a view to helping them breed group horses and, hopefully, future champions.” Ebdon hasn't turned his back on the day job just yet as he told the Racing Post, “My snooker career may not be over, quite yet, but my passion will always be with pedigree research and I'm determined to become a better professional pedigree consultant than I ever was as a snooker professional.
