New Rider Required for Chautauqua

Chautauqua | Racenet

Jockey Tommy Berry announced last week that he would be riding in Hong Kong next season for trainer John Moore and, as a result, MG1SW Chautauqua (Aus) (Encosta de Lago {Aus}), whom Berry has ridden in the past, is in need of a new pilot for the A$10-million The Everest S., racenet.com reported. The Oct. 14 feature clashes with a Hong Kong Jockey Club fixture scheduled for that Saturday, with Berry's special request for a release denied by the HKJC.

“It's disappointing, but I understand and respect the club's decision,” Berry told racenet.com. “If we were racing on the Sunday in Hong Kong there wouldn't have been a problem. I've spoken to John Hawkes and he understands and said it's just unfortunate. John said you're starting a new chapter of your career and you just need to concentrate on that.”
