Newmarket will host its annual open weekend this Saturday and Sunday. The festivities will include the Food and Drink Festival at the Rowley Mile racecourse on both days, as well as a book signing by author Jilly Cooper for her book Mount!. Guests will have the opportunity of a sneak peak of the town's New Heritage Centre, encompassing the new National Horseracing Museum, a national gallery of British Sporting Art and a live horse experience for the Retraining of Racehorses Charity, featuring G1 Dubai World Cup winners African Story (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) and Prince Bishop (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}).
Saturday morning training will feature Group 1 winners Smart Call (SAf) (Ideal World) and Lady Aurelia (Scat Daddy), both working on the Rowley Mile under Frankie Dettori at 7:45 a.m. On Sunday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., 15 of the town's top trainers will open their yards to the public, including Ed Dunlop, Luca Cumani, David Simcock and James Fanshawe. Sunday's racing at the Rowley Mile will also include a jumping competition featuring current and retired top jockeys Kieren Fallon, Jamie Spencer, Frankie Dettori and Hayley Turner.
