Jess Jackson released a statement confirming that GI Kentucky Oaks and GI Preakness S. heroine Rachel Alexandra (Medaglia d'Oro) will not run in the GI Belmont S. “After careful consideration, we have decided not to run Rachel Alexandra in the Belmont Stakes next weekend,” Jackson said. “We have advised Calvin Borel, Chip Woolley and Belmont of our decision. We thank them, the media and the fans for their many courtesies and patience while we pondered.” Jackson added that the three-year-old filly will be freshened up, and that “all major races will be considered as we look to the rest of Rachel's racing career.”
