QIPCO British Champions Day will mark the seasonal finale of 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold (GB) (Paco Boy {Ire}), who has been ruled out of a trip to California for the Breeders' Cup by Hugo Palmer.
The trainer has confirmed that the G1 Queen Elizabeth II S. at Ascot will be the colt's next major target and last of the year.
He said: “Galileo Gold is in good shape and he heads to Ascot now for the QEII. He will run once more this year and that will be at Ascot.”
Galileo Gold has won two Group 1 races and finished runner-up in another two this season but disappointed on his most recent start in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois when finishing eighth behind the winner Ribchester (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}).
Palmer continued, “I think really that France just came too quickly. We didn't really have the time to get his work in and he was just too fresh in France. He didn't run his race for whatever reason but he clearly needs to run his race at the very least if he is to be competitive at Ascot.
“He has won a Guineas and the St James's Palace Stakes so he is a pretty remarkable colt.”
