A field of six, headed by a lone graded winner, will line up in Saturday's GI Frizette S. at Belmont Park, a 'Win and You're In' event for the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita.
Nonna Mela (Arch), overlooked at 8-1 odds in the Aug. 19 GII Adirondack S. following a runaway maiden win at Monmouth July 2, rolled home to an impressive six-length decision in that 6 1/2-furlong contest at the Spa most recently Aug. 19.
“I think she'll handle the step up in distance,” trainer Todd Pletcher said. “She's trained as though she wants to run further. She's got three races under her belt and is training well, so we're looking forward to it.”
Sky Gesture (Tiznow) stamped herself as one to watch with a sharp, front-running debut score going six furlongs at Saratoga Aug. 28. The runner-up that day Cursor (Quality Road) returned with a 'TDN Rising Star' performance at Belmont Park Oct. 5.
Yellow Agate (Gemologist) earned a field-best 84 Beyer Speed Figure in her 32-1 come-from-behind debut score at Belmont Sept. 11.
