Notable Gains at OBS August

The first of open two sessions of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s August Yearling Sale saw notable gains in both average and median as well as a drop in RNAs. A total of 206 yearlings sold for a gross of $3,109,700 during Wednesday’s session, which was good for an average of $15,096, up 14.6% from last year. There were 54 RNAs, which was a dip from 94 last year, for an RNA rate of 20.8%. The median of $10,250 was up 13.9% from 2014. The sale was topped by hip 463, a filly by Broken Vow. The filly was consigned by Southern Cypress Stables LLC, Agent II and went to H & E Ranch for $70,000. The bay is out of Morning Sky (Mt. Livermore), who is a daughter of graded stakes winner Radiant Megan.

Summerfield was the top consignor for the session, selling 28 horses for a total of $503,000. De Meric Stables was the session’s top buyer, purchasing four hips for a combined $155,500. The open yearling sale’s final session begins Thursday at 11 a.m. and will be streamed live on the OBS website.
