Notable US-Breds in Japan: Nov. 18 & 19, 2017

In this ongoing series, Alan Carasso takes a look ahead at US-bred and/or conceived runners entered for the upcoming weekend at the tracks on the Japan Racing Association circuit, with a focus on pedigree and/or performance in the sales ring. Here are the horses of interest for this weekend running at Toyko and Kyoto Racecourses, the latter of which plays host to a couple of interesting runners by the late Scat Daddy:

Saturday, November 18, 2017
4th-TOK, ¥13,400,000 ($119k), Newcomers, 2yo, 1400m
A May foal, KITASAN DAISY (f, 2, Violence&log=">Violence–The Calypso Myth, by Leroidesanimaux {Brz}) was a $20K KEENOV weanling in 2015 and changed hands for $35K as a KEESEP yearling. But the chestnut, out of a half-sister to GSW & GISP Midnight Strike (Smart Strike), put it all together over the next seven months and was knocked down for $320K after breezing an eighth in :10 1/5 at OBSAPR. That was the fourth most expensive of her freshman sire (by Medaglia d'Oro)'s 41 first-crop juveniles to sell this season. Like reigning Horse of the Year Kitasan Black (Jpn), Kitasan Daisy is campaigned by Ono Shoji. B-Blackstone Farm LLC (PA)
