Business was strong at Wednesday's Consignor Select Yearling Sale held by Equine Sales Company in Opelousas, Louisiana, with strong increases in average and median and a record sales price. A total of 139 head sold for $1,510,400, good for an average of $10,866 and median of $5,500–24% and 37.5% increases, respectively compared to the 2015 sale. Eddie Woods' Quarter Pole Enterprises purchased three of the sale's top four lots, including an Into Mischief colt for a sale record of $145,000. The half-brother to juvenile stakes winner Cook Some Rice (Half Ours) was consigned by Clear Creek Stud, LLC, agent as hip 219. This was the first year that Equine Sales Company held its auction in conjunction with Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association, which had previously held its own yearling sale as the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana.
