NY-Bred Looks to Lay Down the 'Law' in KYJC

Tiz the Law | Sarah Andrew

Popular New York-bred Tiz the Law (Constitution) will attempt to end his juvenile career with a perfect record Saturday in the GII Kentucky Jockey Club S. at Churchill Downs. A dominant debut winner against fellow Empire-breds Aug. 8 at Saratoga, the blaze-faced bay blew the field away in Belmont's

GI Champagne S. Oct. 5. Connections opted to bypass the Breeders' Cup in favor of giving the colt some extra time between races and instead pointed for this year-end destination. The Barclay Tagg pupil, campaigned by the connections of GI Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide (Distorted Humor), has been working well leading up to this, including a bullet five panels in :59 3/5 (1/11) at Belmont Nov. 23.

South Bend (Algorithms) also puts his perfect record on the line here. Graduating at first asking sprinting over this strip Sept. 14, the bay won a Keeneland optional claimer next out Oct. 5 and captured the one-mile Street Sense S. at this venue Oct. 27. Street Sense runner-up and winner of the grassy GIII With Anticipation S. Fighting Seabee (Summer Front) also returns in this spot, as do third-place finisher Silver Prospector (Declaration of War) and fourth-place Shotski (Blame).

Another runner worth a look is John Oxley's Enforceable (Tapit). A full-brother to MGSW Mohaymen, the gray earned his diploma at fourth asking going nine panels at Saratoga Aug. 22 and was third behind Maxfield (Bernardini) in Keeneland's GI Claiborne Breeders' Futurity S. Oct. 5.
