The New York Race Track Chaplaincy is continuing its Sponsor-A-Family Program this holiday season. The program provides food and gifts to the neediest backstretch families. Sponsors provide brand new winter clothing for the children, a new toy for each child, and a grocery store gift card for the family's Christmas dinner (additional gifts are welcome, such as clothing for the parents). Family Sponsorships can be shared, and groups are encouraged to sponsor large families together.
To sponsor a family, email Karen Chavez at karen@rtcany.org with the subject line “Sponsor a Family”–include your preferences for the number of members in the family you would like to sponsor. You will be provided with details of your assigned family, including the total number of family members, gender of each child, ages and sizes. Gifts should be delivered to the Chaplaincy office at Belmont Park (Gate 6) by Dec. 14.
