The Board of Directors of the New York Racing Association announced Friday that it has terminated the employment of its President and CEO Charles Hayward, as well as Senior VP and General Counsel Patrick Kehoe, effective immediately. Hayward and Kehoe had been placed on administrative leave Monday in the wake of a report from the New York State Racing and Wagering Board alleging NYRA officials knew about an illegal takeout rate, but did nothing to correct it. A statement from NYRA said that the decision “was based on a determination that these executives failed to perform their duties at a level required by the board.”
