The management of San Siro decided to put all their eggs in one basket and Sunday's meeting also sees the inclusion of the G2 Oaks D'Italia, the other main event of the first half of the Italian season. Frankie Dettori will team up with the favourite Responsibleforlove (Ire) (Duke Of Marmalade {Ire}). The chestnut, who runs in partnership between Team Valor, the South African breeder Gaynor Rupert and Razza Latina, has an open three run winning streak and landed the Listed Premio Mario Incisa, the main trial for the Oaks. Trainer Endo Botti and Cristiana Brivio Sforza have also decided to aid her cause with a pacemaker, Extremely Vintage (Ire) (Dylan Thomas (Ire)). Responsibleforlove will face seven fillies trained by the partnership of Alduino & Stefano Botti, respectively the uncle and cousin of Endo. The Juvenile Champion Cassina De Pomm (Ity) (Pounced) is still unbeaten in four starts and is the best of the Botti cavalry that also includes Conselice (GB) (Showcasing {GB}), winner of the G3 Premio Regina Elena, and the up-and -coming Edya (GB) (Makfi {GB}).
German trained fillies won the Oaks D'Italia eight times since 1999 with top class performers likes Danedream (Ger) (Lomitas {GB}) who subsequently captured the G1 Prix de l'Arc De Triomphe and the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. This year the German squad of four fillies doesn't appear to contain such an illustrious performer but A Raving Beauty (Ger) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) showed promise against the colts in a trial for the G1 Deutsches Derby while the unexposed Son Macia (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}) could become the second filly to win the Oaks D'Italia as a maiden following her compatriot Night Of Magic (Ire) (Peintre Célèbre), who landed the Italian Classic in 2009.
